Short and sweet ...

Just finished this quilt!  I had been working on piecing it for the longest time, off and on, and finally got it to Benjie to have it machine quilted while we were away in TX.  I sewed the binding on around the edge yesterday, then spent the evening under it, sewing the binding down by hand.  Now it's done!  Ta-da!  I originally got the idea from Jane S., who was working on a different pattern with these colors and I loved the combo so much I decided to do one as well.  So glad I did.  Wendell and I both love this quilt!  I know I said I'd never enter a quilt in the Greene County Fair again but maybe ???

I hung it out on the railing this a.m. for these pictures.  Here it is, with the corner flipping in the breeze!  It shows off the backing very well that way.  Happy accident!

Here's a view from the deck side; I used about 50 different reds and browns ...

This close-up shows some of the fabrics I used and Benjie's wonderful quilting!

And here's the part W. likes the best ... the back!  He's weird!  LOL!
I've been catching up on several projects around here since we got back.  And tomorrow I've promised myself I'll go outside and work on cleaning up flower beds.  That's a project that badly needs to be started at least!  Hopefully it will be somewhat warmer tomorrow.  It's been very nippy outside with that north breeze blowing up on our hill.  But the daffodils are getting ready to bloom, and the crocus is already showing off it's purple flowers already.  So it's time I got out there!

And speaking of finishing some things, here's another project I finished last week.  My yellow ware bowl rug.  It's seemed sorta big to me the longer I hooked it and I've been working on it a long time, too.  Not as long as that quilt, but long for me to work on an average size rug.  About a year I'm thinking, off and on, with other hooking thrown in besides.  I completed the middle but set it aside because I had a heck of a time deciding what to do for the border and finally went with this ...

Well, I'm done hooking it but as you can see, it's not been steamed or bound.  But the hard part is over; the hooking!  I LOVE this rug!  I promise to put another picture on here when it's really done....

Well, I also finished needle punching a little piece I did to affix to a small washboard I found in TX and I'll put a picture on here of that next time.  Don't want to make you glaze over with my 'projects' ...

Having fun sewing recently with Jane and the other women at Project Kindness.  Our next project will be walker pockets for vets at the VA.  I've found about 7-8 military-type fabrics to begin with and we'll go from there.  We just finished a batch of bib/aprons for Glenburn Home in Linton.  It's always fun and fulfilling.  And I get to spend time with kindred spirits at the same time!

Well, I guess I'm really back home now ... (and feeling better) ... God is good to me!  Later y'all!

Back in the saddle again ...

Well, we're back for sure.  So much has happened in the few days we've been home!  Not all good.  But on the plus side, we were welcomed warmly by our church family.  Always good!  Everything was in AOK condition here at the ranch.  Always good.  Wasn't much to do to get everything back up and going.  Hooked with my buds last night.  Always good!  I'm well along with the border of the big "yellow ware bowl" rug I've been working on for quite a while now and I'll be ready to move along to something else.  And maybe best of all, had lunch with Barbara T. yesterday ... wonderful.  She always makes me feel better!  She's a true friend; very empathetic, a good listener, compassionate, gives good advise.  What more can anyone ask!?

Then there's the minus side.  I went to the NP the Monday after we returned and am now on two meds for my elevated BP.  So far not working.  So it's back to to see her again tomorrow, I guess ... You know, that wouldn't be so bad but I also have a tooth headed south and I'll be getting it pulled Friday.  Big Sigh!!!  Now THAT gives me high blood pressure!  But it will all work out.  I fully expect that by the time this abominable weather ends, and we "spring forward", I'll be out in the yard and feeling more normal!

Some odds and ends of left-over pictures ...

I thought this quote on a gallery wall in Alpine was a good one ...

I miss this the most -- long roads to nowhere, mountains, and blue, blue skies ...

The road out of (or into) Fort Davis ... a final look at the Davis Mountains.

For you who say I don't put any pictures of myself on here -- here's one.  I think I need to get more sun; I'm looking pale ...
May you have a wonderful month of March.  Wish me luck with the medical profession and say a prayer for me, too.  God bless you.
